Miss Shamim Toma is a highly qualified Consultant ENT Surgeon and Rhinologist. She has been working in both adult and paediatric ENT in Kent since 2016. Miss Toma is based at Medway and Dartford NHS Trust, and has a specialist interest in nasal conditions including rhinoplasty, septorhinoplasty, sinus conditions, endoscopic sinus surgery, loss of sense of smell and allergy. She has performed over 300 septoplasty and septorhinoplasty surgeries, in addition to turbinoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery. She also has experience in revision rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction.
Miss Toma graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in London in 2002, and also obtained a BSc with First Class Honours in Pharmacology. Subsequently, she undertook a Masters degree in Surgical Science, and her research focused on septoplasty and outcomes related to nasal airflow. Afterwards, she underwent ENT higher surgical training in the South Thames region, including Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.
In 2015, Miss Toma was appointed as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Advanced Rhinology and Rhinoplasty at Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare and The Nose Clinic at The Royal Brompton Hospital in London. This was made possible by receiving the British Rhinological Society Travelling Fellowship Award.
