About Dr Sandar Hlaing
Dr. Sandar Hlaing is a highly experienced General Practitioner with over 17 years in practice and more than 15 years in senior roles within general medicine. Born in Myanmar, she earned her MBBS in 2000 before moving to the UK in 2002, where she has dedicated her career to patient-centred, holistic care. She has successfully established dedicated one-stop clinics for women, the elderly, and young people, creating specific patient pathways that optimise efficiency, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction. A British Menopause Society Certified Menopause Specialist, Dr. Hlaing has particular expertise in managing menopause and perimenopause using both hormonal and non-hormonal approaches. Her skills include cognitive behavioural therapy for the physical and emotional symptoms of menopause, sleep management, and sexual health advice, as well as contraceptive options such as oral methods and intrauterine system (Mirena) insertions. She is experienced in providing comprehensive one-stop women’s clinics covering sexual health, family planning, menstrual and bleeding disorders, and hormone-related mental health conditions. Dr. Hlaing is a member of the British Menopause Society, the International Menopause Society, and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and is a Diplomate of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She also holds a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and is trained in delivering CBT specifically for menopause, an evidence-based treatment that can be used with or without hormonal therapy. Currently practising at SA1 Medical Centre, she is committed to promoting quality care for women and elderly patients within the community. Passionate about education, Dr. Hlaing is actively involved in teaching and mentoring.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
