General Surgery
About
My specialist interests include general and colorectal surgery, with particular expertise in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques. I manage the full range of anorectal conditions, including anal abscesses, pilonidal disease, anal fissures, and perianal fistulas, and provide comprehensive haemorrhoid care such as THD, banding, and haemorrhoidectomy.
I have extensive experience in the investigation and management of bowel cancer, Diverticular disease, as well as the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
My general surgery practice covers the management of gallstone disease with laparoscopic cholecystectomy, along with both laparoscopic and open abdominal wall, groin, incisional, and parastomal hernia repairs.
I am JAG-accredited for upper GI endoscopy and lower GI procedures (flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy), which I perform regularly to ensure accurate diagnosis and timely treatment.
My training includes basic surgical training in Manchester, completion of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree in Hull, specialist surgical training in Glasgow, and a dedicated laparoscopic fellowship in Newcastle, equipping me with advanced skills across the full spectrum of general and colorectal surgery.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
