Sam Charles

Sam Charles is a registered physiotherapist from Australia who graduated from La Trobe University in 2020 with a Master of Physiotherapy Practice and a Bachelor of Applied Science. Since completing his studies, he has worked in a busy private practice in Melbourne, treating a broad range of clients, from high-level athletes focused on optimising performance to individuals simply wanting to move better and feel stronger in everyday life. Throughout his career, Sam has developed a particular passion for managing lower limb injuries and persistent pain, taking a whole-person approach rather than focusing solely on isolated pathology. He has a strong interest in running and running-related overuse injuries and stays up to date with the latest research through continued professional development and targeted online courses. His experience working with hockey and Australian Rules Football teams at state and local levels over the past seven years has given him a strong understanding of the demands of competitive sport and the time pressures faced by athletes aiming to perform at their best. His main role at Mayfair Health is as the lead physiotherapist for the Bone Health Clinic, combining diagnosis, treatment and management of osteoporosis. He has been quoted in articles from the Times and the Telegraph discussing how people can optimise their bone health. Additonally, Sam runs webinars for doctors and clients discussing the latest research and how we can manage our bones for longevity. Sam uses a combination of treatment modalities, believing the best outcomes come from empowering clients with the knowledge, tools and confidence to take ownership of their rehabilitation. His approach integrates hands-on manual therapy with strength and conditioning, load management and lifestyle modification, with the aim of addressing the underlying causes of injury rather than simply relieving symptoms.
