About Dr Rory O'Connor
Mr Rory O’Connor is a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Spire Nottingham Hospital. He has a special interest in the treatment of post-traumatic facial deformities, offering a personalised approach to care that prioritises the individual rather than solely the injury. His work ranges from scar management to complex bone and soft tissue reconstruction, often involving procedures such as osteotomy or the use of custom-made implants. He incorporates advanced 3D planning, modelling, and virtual surgery to support precision and improve outcomes in complex craniofacial cases. He provides the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including tooth extractions (such as wisdom teeth), removal of lesions in or around the mouth, management of salivary stones, and other jaw- and face-related concerns. He regularly sees patients with facial pain, mouth ulcers, lichen planus, and other oral medicine conditions. He also treats children requiring tooth removal or exposure for orthodontic reasons, as well as those with tongue ties. In addition to his clinical work, Mr O’Connor treats patients seeking procedures such as mole, cyst, wart and skin tag removal, scar revision, jaw cyst removal, and anti-wrinkle treatments. He also offers more advanced options such as chin and cheek implants, liposuction, blepharoplasty, and treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Mr O’Connor was appointed as a consultant at Nottingham University Hospitals in January 2021 after completing his specialist training in the East Midlands. He undertook a nationally appointed TIG (Training Interface Group) Fellowship in Major Trauma between 2019 and 2020, followed by an AO International CranioMaxilloFacial Surgery Fellowship in Basel, Switzerland, in 2020.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
