Dr. Roland McCallum is the Founder of Brilliant Being and a distinguished Endocrinologist with expertise in weight management and metabolic medicine. He graduated from the University of Glasgow and completed his basic physician training at the Western Infirmary’s MRC Blood Pressure and Endocrinology Unit. During this time, he was awarded a postgraduate MD for his thesis investigating the vascular effects of growth hormone replacement in hypopituitary patients.
In 2007, Dr. McCallum became a Staff Specialist in Endocrinology at the Royal Hobart Hospital and now also serves as a Visiting Medical Officer at Hobart Private and Calvary Hospitals. He has pioneered various joint clinics with specialists in gynaecology, sexual health, and cystic fibrosis at the Royal Hobart Hospital, and he regularly holds clinics at the Aboriginal Health Centre. As the Tasmanian investigator on an Australian insulin pump trial, his research interests extend to weight loss, diabetes, and thyroid disease.
Dr. McCallum has helped hundreds of patients with obesity achieve their weight loss goals. He is SCOPE certified and a member of the Obesity Medicine Association as well as the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society. Additionally, he has served on the steering committee for access to bariatric surgery at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
