About
Mr Sawant completed his medical degree (MBBS) at Government Medical College, Miraj, before undertaking specialist ophthalmology training and earning his DNB in Ophthalmology from the National Board of Examinations. He went on to achieve Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd Ophth.) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS Ophthalmology).
His international career includes consultant and senior ophthalmology posts at leading centres such as Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Vasan Eye Care, the Doctor Eye Institute (Mumbai) and K K Eye Institute (Pune). He also gained valuable global health experience as a Senior Capacity Building Ophthalmologist with Beyond Eye Care in Addis Ababa.
Since relocating to the UK, Mr Sawant has held senior roles at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, initially as a Specialty Doctor for over six years before progressing to a Locum Consultant position at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. He was subsequently appointed as a substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist on the Isle of Wight.
Mr Sawant provides expert assessment and management of a wide range of ophthalmic conditions and is committed to delivering safe, patient-centred, evidence-based care.
