Mr Richard Dalton
General Surgery
About
He graduated in medicine from the University of Leicester in 1997. Following this, Mr Dalton undertook academic research in kidney transplantation and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in 2005. He completed higher surgical training in the South West of England and was appointed as a consultant surgeon at Yeovil District Hospital in 2013.
Mr Dalton’s clinical practice covers a broad range of colorectal and general surgical conditions, with an emphasis on minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques where appropriate. He has experience in the investigation and management of bowel disease, abdominal and pelvic floor conditions, and benign anorectal disorders. Diagnostic procedures form a core part of his work, including colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy.
Treatments offered include surgery for hernias, gallbladder disease, appendicitis, haemorrhoids, anal fistulae and pilonidal sinus disease, as well as assessment and management of rectal bleeding. He also provides care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. His practice integrates surgical management with appropriate investigation and follow-up to support safe and effective patient care.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
