About
Dr Mahanta completed his medical training at St Bartholomew's & The Royal London Medical School in 2003 and went on to specialise in old age psychiatry at London teaching hospitals. After completing his core training, he became a qualified member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2008.
During Dr Mahanta's higher specialist training in London, he completed a Masters in Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London with distinction. He then went on to complete a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and enrolled on the GMC specialist register as a specialist in Old Age Psychiatry.
Furthermore, he was involved in various research projects during his postgraduate training, including work as first author at the world-renowned Institute of Psychiatry, King's College, investigating glaucoma treatments in dementia. Dr Mahanta remains committed to research in his NHS work and has a particular clinical interest in the mental health of Parkinson's disease.
