Rachel Croke is a Clinical Audiologist with a strong foundation in both nursing and audiology. Originally from County Clare, she began her career in healthcare with a BSc in Nursing (Intellectual Disability) from the University of Limerick, graduating in 2023. She went on to work as a Registered Nurse in adult residential care, where her experience deepened her interest in the relationship between intellectual disability and wider health outcomes.
Rachel completed a Master’s in Audiology at University College Cork in 2025. Her training and clinical work span both adult and paediatric populations, with experience in community-based hearing assessments as well as hospital ENT clinics. She is skilled in hearing tests, microsuction earwax removal, hearing aid fittings, and the management of tinnitus and hearing loss. To further enhance patient care, Rachel studied Irish Sign Language, supporting effective communication with individuals in the Deaf community.
Rachel has also volunteered with Special Olympics Ireland, screening athletes’ hearing and providing medical support at national competitions. Her professional interests centre on the connections between intellectual disability, hearing loss, cognitive decline, and dementia, particularly the importance of early detection. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, exploring new places, and spending time with family and friends.
