About

Mr Qaisar Jalal is a Consultant General and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgeon with extensive experience in minimally invasive and complex abdominal surgery. After graduating in Pakistan and completing specialist training in General Surgery, he worked as a Consultant before moving to the UK to further advance his surgical career.

He began his UK practice at the Royal London Hospital and subsequently moved to Sheffield, where he worked at the Northern General Hospital. He has served as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Hepatobiliary Surgery and, since 2019, has been practising as a Consultant in General and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery.

Mr Jalal’s primary clinical focus is minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, particularly laparoscopic gallbladder surgery. He has a special interest and extensive experience in managing acute gallbladder pathologies, including acutely inflamed gallbladders, with a strong emphasis on safe and effective surgical care.

His broader surgical expertise includes:

• Laparoscopic hernia repair

• Cancer surgery for liver, pancreas and gallbladder

• Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for benign and malignant biliary and pancreatic conditions

With over a decade of consultant-level experience in complex gallbladder and HPB surgery, Mr Jalal combines technical expertise with a patient-focused approach. He has a strong academic background, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and contributions to book chapters. He has presented widely at national and international conferences.

Passionate about education and training, Mr Jalal is actively involved in teaching and serves as faculty on multiple surgical courses and workshops, supporting the development of future generations of surgeons.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”

— Mr Qaiser Jalal
