Mr. Preetham Kodumuri has over 15 years of experience in orthopaedics, currently serving as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in hand and wrist surgery at Wrexham Maelor Hospital since April 2020. He graduated in 2006 from Guntur in South India and completed his basic surgical training in the East Midlands before undertaking his orthopaedic training (CCT) in Nottingham and Derby, which he completed in 2018.
Furthering his expertise, Mr. Kodumuri trained as a nationally appointed hand surgery fellow (ATP fellowship) in Manchester and Birmingham. In 2019, he achieved a notable distinction by being awarded the British and European Hand Surgery Diplomas. His training included international exposure to renowned hand units such as the Mayo Clinic, the Christine Kleinert Hand Institute in the USA, and Ganga Hospitals in India.
Specialising in hand and wrist surgery, Mr. Kodumuri addresses conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Dupuytren's contracture. He has performed approximately 1,000 hand surgical procedures, including carpal tunnel surgery, Dupuytren's contracture treatment, joint replacements, WALANT (wide awake hand surgery), and wrist arthroscopy.
Mr. Kodumuri is also passionate about sustainability in healthcare. In 2021, he was part of one of five teams competing in the Green Surgery Challenge, supported by The Royal College of Surgeons and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. His innovative work focused on reducing the carbon footprint within the NHS and medical practice, earning national recognition.
In addition to his clinical practice and sustainability efforts, Mr. Kodumuri maintains an active role in research, with multiple papers published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Hand Surgery, European Volume. He is a clinical tutor for the British Diploma in Hand Surgery affiliated with the University of Manchester and serves as a faculty member for the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons revision courses in Oxford, Manchester, and Mansfield. His commitment to developing greener healthcare pathways continues to drive his professional and academic endeavours.
