Dr Poursoltan is a medical oncologist and an active member of a multidisciplinary cancer care team that coordinates care for people with cancer. Dr Poursoltan has worked at the Garvan Institute and University of Sydney. They teach and lecture to first and second-year medical students on the management of cancer, beyond chemotherapy, cancer genetics, and lung cancer. They also contribute to bedside teaching.
