About Dr Philip Masson

Dr Philip Masson is an experienced Consultant Nephrologist at The Royal Free Hospital. He completed his medical degree at the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2003, following pre-clinical studies at the University of Oxford. He later completed his specialised training in Nephrology and General Internal Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and various hospitals across South East Scotland. In 2015, Dr Masson earned his PhD in chronic kidney disease from the Sydney School of Public Health at the University of Sydney, Australia. He is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr Masson's expertise encompasses transplantation, including assessments for living donors, long-term follow-up, and low clearance transplantation. He also specialises in general nephrology, handling new presentations and providing long-term follow-up care for chronic kidney disease.

As the clinical service lead for inpatient renal services, Dr Masson plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. Additionally, he actively engages in clinical research and has contributed significantly to the medical field with numerous journal publications, including The Lancet and The British Medical Journal.
