General Surgery
About
Mr Trapszo has been practising surgery since 1995 and has specialised exclusively in breast surgery since 2009. He graduated from Wroclaw Medical University in 1992 and completed full surgical training to consultant level in 2001. His early career included work as a general surgeon in both Poland and Germany before relocating permanently to the UK in 2004, where he initially held the role of Associate Specialist in General Surgery at Darent Valley Hospital. During this time, he contributed to the introduction of the sentinel lymph node biopsy technique at the hospital.
In 2009 he joined the Royal Marsden Hospital as a Speciality Doctor in Breast Surgery, where he was involved in the POETIC trial and the development of open access follow-up pathways for breast cancer patients. In 2012 he became Deputy Head of a Specialist Breast Cancer Centre in Germany, where he expanded oncoplastic services and supported the centre’s successful certification by the German Cancer Association.
He returned to the UK in 2016 to take up his current NHS consultant post at Darent Valley Hospital. His practice involves the diagnosis and management of breast disease using a One Stop Clinic model with triple assessment, working closely with breast radiologists, pathologists and clinical nurse specialists. He performs a wide range of breast operations for benign and malignant disease, including techniques that combine oncological and plastic surgical principles to preserve breast appearance while achieving safe surgical margins.
His oncoplastic expertise includes breast-conserving surgery, implant-based reconstruction using acellular dermal matrix, lipofilling and reconstruction of the nipple–areola complex. He also undertakes mastectomy, lumpectomy, lymph node procedures and reconstructive interventions following cancer treatment. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Trapszo participates in research and service development projects across breast surgery.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
