About
Dr Carney first graduated in 2001 with an MBBS from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He then spent time training in neurology at Austin Health and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Following this, he completed a PhD in epilepsy with the Brain Research Institute and the Epilepsy Research Centre. Dr Carney remains interested in research particularly in the use of imaging for epilepsy diagnosis.
As part of his work with Austin Health, Dr Carney established a specialised clinic for patients with disorders of daytime somnolence and abnormal nocturnal behaviours. He also works within the Austin Health Comprehensive Epilepsy Programme where he evaluates epileptic patients and assists with the surgical management of their condition.
