He has been in continuous NHS employment since 2000 and completed his higher orthopaedic surgical training rotation in the South of England. In October 2010, Mr Hancock was appointed to a consultant post at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust.
In the same year, he was awarded a prestigious one-year fellowship in Sydney, Australia, where he conducted research into bone graft substitutes and artificial ligaments with the University of New South Wales. During this fellowship, he also developed advanced expertise in modern hip and knee surgery techniques while working at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, University of Sydney.
