About Mr Neil Fairbairn
Mr Fairbairn is a substantive plastic surgery consultant at Glasgow Royal infirmary and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His NHS practise includes orthoplastic limb reconstruction, sarcoma, perineal reconstruction, hand surgery and skin cancer. Mr Fairbairn graduated from the University of Dundee Medical School. His plastic surgery training took place in Edinburgh and Glasgow and included an interface fellowship in hand surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman hospital in Newcastle. After completion of training and entry onto the specialist register, Mr Fairbairn completed a 1-year microsurgery fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia. He has academic interests in limb trauma and peripheral nerve reconstruction and completed a 2-year period of research at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a regular reviewer for the journal of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He has private practicing privileges at The Nuffield and Ross Hall Hospitals in Glasgow. He maintains a specialist interest in aesthetic breast surgery, facial rejuvenation, body contouring, hand surgery and skin cancer. He is registered with BUPA, Cigna, AXA, AIVIA and Vitality. Mr Fairbairn is a member of the expert witness institute and accepts instructions for medicolegal reports through Resolve Medicolegal Ltd, Glasgow. Mr Fairbairn has full registration with the GMC, the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow. He is clinical governance lead for plastic surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and is director for professional standards and CPD at the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow.
