Dr. Nadira Awal is a dedicated NHS GP and the founder of Pause & Co Healthcare, a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing key aspects of Women’s Health, particularly family planning and menopause. With a profound commitment to breaking societal taboos surrounding sex, sexuality, and reproductive health, Dr. Awal launched Pause & Co Healthcare in 2021 to provide comprehensive support and education on these often-overlooked areas. Drawing on her personal experience with early menopause, Dr. Awal is uniquely positioned to advocate for better workplace and societal understanding of this life stage.
After graduating from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2009, Dr. Awal completed her GP training in 2014, becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Her qualifications include a Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, as well as specialist competencies in intrauterine and subdermal contraceptive techniques, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology. She is an active member of both the British Menopause Society and the Primary Women’s Healthcare Forum.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Awal is active in education; supervising and mentoring junior doctors and healthcare colleagues. Her leadership roles have included Joint Lead in Women’s Health, COPD & Asthma Lead, Co-lead in Diabetes Care, Child Safeguarding Lead, and Deputy Adult Safeguarding Lead.
