Sundeept Bhalara Patel is a Consultant Rheumatologist who specialises in rheumatological disease, particularly inflammatory arthritis and soft tissue disease and osteoporosis. Sundeept Bhalara Patel qualified in medicine at University College, London in 1991. After broad general medical training in London teaching hospitals including St Bartholemew's, he obtained higher specialist rheumatology training at Charing Cross and the Hammersmith Hospitals, and the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, London. He gained specialist recognition in rheumatology and general medicine in 2002 and has been working as Consultant Rheumatologist in West Hertfordshire (Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Alban's hospitals) and Charing Cross Hospital since then. He has also gained considerable experience in most aspects of general rheumatology but has a particular interest in arthritis and multisystem disease. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physician's in May 2007.
Dr Patel was awarded a Master's degree (with Distinction) in Immunology by the University of London in 1995. He retains an academic interest in the Immunology of Rheumatic diseases and has undertaken considerable research in this area. He was awarded an MD degree following research and publication of a Doctoral thesis on the assessment and management of Early Arthritis and has run a tertiary centre highly specialised Early Arthritis service using state of the art diagnostic and treatment modalities. He is currently Clinical Lead of Rheumatology services and Clinical Director of Medicine at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust .
He practices privately at Spire Bushey and Harpenden Hospitals and the Bishopswood Hospital, Northwood.
