About Mr Sean O'Leary
Mr Sean O’Leary is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery and currently practises at Circle Reading Hospital. He also began his consultant career at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in 2002, following completion of specialist training. Mr O’Leary undertook his early medical education at the University of Cambridge and St Mary’s Hospital. His specialist orthopaedic training was completed on the North West Thames rotation, followed by international fellowships in knee arthroplasty and knee ligament reconstruction at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne and The Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia. His clinical practice encompasses all aspects of knee surgery, including arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, realignment surgery (osteotomy), and partial and total knee replacement. He has a particular clinical interest in the management of the younger arthritic knee and joint-preserving surgical techniques, including osteotomy and partial knee replacement. Mr O’Leary has contributed to implant development and surgical education, having led the redesign of instrumentation and authored the surgical technique manual for a unicompartmental knee replacement system. He currently uses contemporary partial knee replacement implants in his practice. He has an interest in ACL reconstruction outcomes and was instrumental in establishing the National Ligament Registry in 2013, serving as Chair from 2013 to 2016. He continues to be involved in its integration into a national implant registry in collaboration with NHS England. https://www.seanolearyknee.co.uk/
