Mr Robin Strachan is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon currently based at the private practices of BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital, St John and Elizabeth Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital, and his current NHS post is Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. His area of specialism is the knee and his areas of interest include injection therapy for osteoarthritis, arthroscopy and meniscal repair, the patella, partial and total knee replacement, complex and revision knee arthroplasty and cartilage shaving and repair.

Mr Strachan qualified in Medicine in 1979 at the University of Edinburgh with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees with Honours in Physiology. He completed higher surgical training in Edinburgh in 1989 winning the Chiene Medal.  He was an American British Canadian Travelling Fellow in 1992 and underwent other fellowships in Canada and the USA, including at the Mayo Clinic.

In addition, Mr Strachan is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and is the immediate Past President of Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery UK and until recently a member of the British Orthopaedic Association Specialty Committee.  He is a Deputy Training Programme Director and Clinical Lead for the North West Thames Major Revision Centre.  His research is mainly in knee conditions and surgical techniques and he has many professional publications and over 4300 academic citations noted on Academia and Google Scholar . He is also a retired Surgeon Commander, Royal Naval Reserve.
