At Nuffield health and Spire Hartswood Hospital, Mr. Varma also provides a colposcopy service for women requiring further investigation following abnormal cervical smear tests. He is an internationally recognised figure in his field, having lectured and led surgical workshops in South America, the US, Europe, India, Nepal, and Hong Kong. Mr. Varma served as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Basildon University Hospital from 1992 to 2012 and held the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College Hospital London.

Mr Varma now only sees private patients since leaving NHS in 2012.

He is also the inventor of a device called Fetal PIllow that is used all over the world and has saved many complication for mothers and babies arising from difficult cesarean sections
