Mr Paul Tierney

Mr Paul Tierney is a Consultant ENT, Head & Neck and Thyroid Surgeon based in Bristol. He holds a substantive NHS consultant post at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and provides care for both adults and children across the full spectrum of ear, nose and throat conditions. His specialist clinical interests include nasal and sinus surgery, with particular experience in the management of nasal obstruction and endoscopic treatment of sinus disease and chronic sinusitis. He also has specialist expertise in head and neck surgery, voice and swallowing disorders, and conditions affecting the thyroid and salivary glands. Mr Tierney no longer offers cosmetic rhinoplasty but continues to assess and manage patients requiring rhinoplasty following nasal trauma. Mr Tierney qualified in medicine from the University of Oxford in 1989, having studied at Magdalen College, and was awarded an MA in Physiological Sciences alongside his medical degree. His ENT training included posts at St Mary’s Hospital, The Royal Marsden Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital. He undertook an international fellowship in head and neck surgery in Brisbane before his consultant appointment in Bristol in 2002. He has held a number of senior leadership and educational roles, including Clinical Lead for ENT, Chair of the regional Head and Neck Cancer Network, Specialty Training Director for the Severn Deanery and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol. He remains actively involved in training and education within the specialty.
