He is renowned for his success in the treatment of young patients with arthritis and for his remarkable experience with ligament-preserving replacement surgery (partial knee resurfacing). 

Professor London completed his medical degree at the University of Cambridge in 1989, followed by his surgical training in Leeds. He then spent two years undertaking surgical research, leading to his MD. He later completed a six year orthopaedic surgery training programme based in Yorkshire, during which he completed a year-long knee fellowship in Australia.
