Mr Nick West is a leading Consultant Cardiologist with HCA Healthcare. He has a special interest in treating those suffering from cancer of the lower gastrointestinal tract, along with anal fissures, haemorrhoids, pilonidal sinuses and hernias. He has performed pioneering treatments in his career and was the first Consultant to perform the Rafaelo procedure in the UK, a procedure used to treat internal haemorrhoids using radiofrequency ablation.
He graduated from St George's Hospital Medical School in London and completed his basic surgical training there. Following this, he completed the South West Thames Higher Surgical Training Programme, during which time he undertook a period of research both at St George's and St Mark's Hospitals, London investigating the chemoprevention of colorectal cancer via the prevention of colorectal polyps. He was awarded a Masters Degree for his outstanding achievements during his research post. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in Laparoscopy at Frimley Park Hospital and Royal Surrey County Hospital.
