About
In 2000 he undertook specialist training in rheumatology in the mid Trent region. During his time on the mid Trent rotation he completed a Masters degree in clinical education and obtained his CCST in 2004. He then became a clinical fellow at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and completed a DM, again in clinical education.
Dr Raj was appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist in 2006 at the Royal Derby Hospital and served as the Head of the Rheumatology department. He provides a general rheumatology service on the NHS at both the Royal Derby hospital and the Florence Nightingale community hospital.
As a special interest he has developed a musculoskeletal ultrasound service within the department to aid in the diagnosis of inflammatory joint conditions.
Dr Raj has a keen interest in teaching and is an Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham School of Medicine.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
