About Prof Keith Barton
Professor Barton is a highly esteemed Consultant Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma Specialist. Their areas of expertise are the surgical management of glaucoma, particularly aqueous shunt devices, micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and secondary glaucomas. Professor Barton has a special interest in the management of glaucoma in uveitis. Professor Barton is passionate about surgical teaching, patient education, and charitable endeavours. They have authored patient information resources on aqueous shunt implantation and trabeculectomy, accessible online in multiple languages, which have been honoured with the NHS Information Standard in the UK. Furthermore, they have established an online platform, migs.org, to guide both patients and clinicians through the expanding landscape of novel glaucoma surgical devices. Professor Barton has also played a key role in developing an internet-based International Registry of Glaucoma Surgery, aiming to gather comprehensive data on surgical interventions for glaucoma. Professor Barton qualified from The Queen's University of Belfast.
