About Mr Jonathan Hyam
Mr Jonathan Hyam is a Consultant Craniofacial, Brain & Comprehensive Spinal Neurosurgeon at the renowned National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. He is also a neurosurgeon for the UCLH Adult Craniofacial multidisciplinary service which comprises specialists in maxillofacial, plastics and ENT surgery who reconstruct head shape following surgery, injury or in syndromic conditions. He has expertise in the following areas: • Craniofacial reconstruction and cranioplastic surgery • Tumours (such as meningioma) • Gamma knife stereotactic radiosurgery (tumours, trigeminal neuralgia and glossopharyngeal neuralgia) • Spinal stenosis and disc prolapse in the neck and lower spine • Back pain and sciatica • Deep brain stimulation (Parkinson's disease, tremor, facial pain and dystonia) Mr Hyam gained his PhD in Neurosurgery from Oxford University and a Diploma in Microscopic Neurosurgery from The Yasargil Neurosurgery Laboratory at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He is the recipient of various national and international awards and honours, including the Resident Prize for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, awarded by the American Congress of Neurological Surgeons in Washington, DC. He also received the prestigious Arris & Gale Lectureship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr Hyam's neurosurgical research has appeared in high-profile international journals such as The Lancet, Nature Reviews Neurology, and The Lancet Neurology.
