Dr Gurpreet Singh Kalra is an NHS Consultant Fertility Specialist with Swansea Bay University Health Board, working at Wales Fertility Institute, Port Talbot and Cardiff, as well as Singleton Hospital, Swansea.
Dr Kalra completed his medical degree in India, followed by specialist training in Women’s Health and Fertility, including Assisted Reproductive Technology (IVF) from Norway and the United Kingdom. He earned a Master’s in Reproduction and Development with Merit from the University of Bristol, where he was awarded for best research. He is also an experienced Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgeon. Dr Kalra provides a complete range of fertility management services for women and men, as well as a wide range of gynaecological laparoscopic (keyhole) surgical procedures.
Dr Kalra is also a successful and driven clinical leader and has served as the Clinical Director at the NHS Wales National IVF Service at Wales Fertility Institute from 2017 to 2021. He has also led the establishment of IVF services in India as National Medical Director for a global healthcare organisation from 2021 to 2022. Dr Kalra is a Fellow at the Faculty for Medical Leadership and Management (FFMLM), UK, and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and faculty member at the University of Bristol, where he is co-lead for the Assisted Reproductive Technology (IVF) Module on a Master’s course.
Dr Kalra recognises how psychosocially demanding it is to struggle with infertility and is committed to improving access to fertility treatments, including assisted conception treatments. He is currently conducting research at the University of Oxford on "Strategies to Improve Access to Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Treatments for Infertile Patients Globally".
