Mr Sforza began his medical education in Italy, graduating from the University of Bari in 1992. He undertook several periods of training abroad at institutions like the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute Los Angeles in the United States. He was later appointed consultant in Italy, holding the position of Head of the shoulder and elbow unit. He was also a regular attendee of the Mayo Clinic in the US, being actively involved in research and teaching courses (Teach the Elbow Teachers). He finally move to the UK in 2004, where he joined the Reading Shoulder Unit. Following this, he was appointed to Consultant in the Worchester NHS Trust. In 2013 he undertook a Masters in Hand and Wrist Surgery at the University of Milan.
Mr Sforza remains an active researcher with over 200 presentation in National and International meetings and over 35 peer reviewed publications in medical journals and regular invites to present his findings around the world. He has also written several chapters on shoulder surgery. He also actively engages in teaching, organising several courses on shoulder surgery techniques like arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and wrist, shoulder arthroplasty and rehabilitation of shoulders, elbows, wrist and hand pathologies.
