I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an exclusive focus on hip surgery — one of only a small number of surgeons in the UK to specialise solely in the hip. My practice is built around giving patients the best possible outcome with the least disruption to their lives.
I perform robotic hip replacement using the Stryker MAKO system, one of the most advanced robotic platforms available in the UK. This technology allows me to plan your surgery precisely to your own anatomy before you enter theatre, and to execute that plan with a level of accuracy that is simply not achievable by hand — giving you a better-fitting implant, more natural leg length, and a faster recovery.
I perform hip replacement through the Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) — a minimally invasive technique that works between the muscles rather than cutting through them. Patients typically walk the same day and recover faster than with traditional approaches. In suitable patients I also offer a cosmetic 'bikini' incision.
As well as hip replacement, I treat a wide range of hip conditions including hip arthritis, hip impingement (FAI), hip dysplasia, labral tears, groin pain, and snapping hip syndrome. For younger and more active patients, I offer hip-preserving procedures including hip arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) and periacetabular osteotomy (PAO).
I trained across leading UK and international centres, including a fellowship with Mr Johan Witt in young adult hip surgery in London. I hold an MD (research doctorate) in hip biomechanics.
I see patients at Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale, Spire Cardiff, and St Joseph's Hospital Newport. I am a fluent Welsh speaker and happy to consult in Welsh.
