About Mr Christopher McLean
Mr. Chris McLean is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon based in Guildford. He did his medical training at Imperial College, London, qualifying in 1989. After his initial medical degree, he undertook his postgraduate ophthalmic training which involved working at several London teaching Hospitals and he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1993. His specialist training continued at Moorfield's Eye Hospital where he also undertook a Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Lacrimal surgery under Mr Richard Collin and Mr Geoffrey Rose.
With extensive skill and experience under his belt, Mr. Mclean became an NHS Consultant at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 1999, and also works at St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey as well as his private practice in Guildford and the surrounding area. He is a founder member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society.
Mr McLean's great passions are small incision cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery (plastic and reconstructive surgery around the eyes) and lacrimal surgery. In addition to his skill as an ophthalmic surgeon, he is also a keen player in the field of research and is currently involved in several ophthalmic research projects and has presented his work both nationally and internationally.
In his spare time he enjoys hill walking with his family and dogs, as well as squash, drawing & painting, trying to play golf and mountaineering.
