About Mr Chethan Jayadev

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon and lead the knee preservation service at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. I am a founding partner of Grosvenor Orthopaedic Partners and consult at Spire Bushey Hospital, King Edward VII's Hospital, Princess Grace Hospital, and 14 Devonshire Street. My practice is built around helping patients keep their own knee working for as long as possible, and replacing it well when the time comes. I offer the full spectrum of knee surgery: cartilage surgery, meniscal surgery and transplantation, osteotomy, sports injuries including ACL reconstruction, patellofemoral instability, partial and total knee replacement, and complex revision knee replacement. Not every knee problem requires surgery, and I offer a range of non-operative treatments, including advanced injection therapies, for patients where that is the right approach.  Two areas of particular focus are knee preservation and kinematic alignment in total knee replacement. In preservation, my aim is to restore the knee where possible and to prevent or delay joint replacement surgery. In total knee replacement, my approach is kinematic alignment: tailoring implant positioning to the anatomy of your individual knee rather than applying a one-size-fits-all technique. I also offer robotic-assisted knee replacement at selected sites, which uses a personalised three-dimensional plan of your joint to guide the procedure, an approach that shares the same patient-specific philosophy. My commitment in every case is the same: precision and personalisation. I read medicine at Oxford University (Magdalen College) and completed a DPhil examining the biology of knee osteoarthritis. My surgical training included specialist fellowships at Gold Coast University Hospital in Australia, the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. In every consultation my aim is straightforward: to understand not just your diagnosis but the reality of how your knee affects your daily life, and to give you enough time, clear explanation, and honest advice. Whatever path you choose, you will feel fully informed and confident in that decision.

"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."

— Mr Chethan Jayadev, on practice philosophy
