Mr Balachandran Venkat is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon with over two decades of experience in the field, specialising in shoulder surgery including shoulder stabilisation, rotator cuff surgery and shoulder replacement. He regularly treats shoulder pain and shoulder injuries, and has extensive experience performing open shoulder surgery, and arthroscopic surgery, at the One Stop Shoulder Clinic, as well as utilising ultrasound and cutting edge radiology for diagnosis.
Balachandran qualified as a doctor in 1992, and went on to gain his specialist orthopaedic and postgraduate qualifications at with the Royal College of Surgeons and Orthopaedic Royal College of Surgeons, as well as a Masters degree in Orthopaedics. He completed his basic training in Yorkshire, then his higher surgical training also based in Yorkshire, eventually leading up to his completion of a Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Fellowship, in Reading. He is currently appointed Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Midlands Yorkshire Trust and Spire Elland Hospital, where his practice is also accompanied by physiotherapy and rehabilitation, with patient care and satisfaction at the heart of his practice. He is also an active and well respected member of the research community, with several peer review papers on general trauma and a Honorary Senior Lecturer Post at the University of Leeds.
