Currently Mr Ruiz works mainly in hip and knee arthroplasty. In his previous post by the time he left the NHS he was the most senior trauma surgeon in Northern Ireland. His job also included revision arthroplasty surgery, knee arthroscopy as well as periprosthetic fractures. He was actively involved in training as the College Tutor and  was lead investigator for the Beyond Compliance study of the G7 Zimmer/Biomet cup.

Invited as guest speaker at the Mayo Arthroplasty conference in Westport, Ireland

Mr Ruiz volunteers with operation walk ireland to perform arthroplasties in Vietnam.

Arthroplasty is his main interest. During his training in one of the largest joint replacement units in Europe he has been exposed to all approaches to the hip and a wide range of techniques and different implants. During his previous post, he was involved in most aspects of revision surgery, performing complex reconstructions and the use of impaction allografts. He has performed a large number of mobile bearing knee replacements and unicondylar implants. He had been fortunate to be involved with the Bone Infection Unit in Oxford during his training.
