Mr Shah has been involved in orthopaedics since 1998. He has 3 orthopaedic degrees from India, 3 from the UK (including the FRCS in trauma and orthopaedics) and he is a GMC-registered consultant in trauma and orthopaedics.
His specialist interest is in hips and knees, and he believes that narrowing his focus in this way allows him to deliver better outcomes. His focus is on delivering an ethical and sensible consult to start with. An ability to explain the pathology in simple terms and then laying out the options available is vital to this.
With hips and knees, He deals with all pathologies including sports injuries, painful or unstable joints due to early wear and tear, and severe forms of arthritis. Treatment options may range from gaining an understanding of the problem and choosing a conservative approach, to physiotherapy or injections to the joint or surrounding area, to keyhole surgery and various forms of joint replacements.
Mr Shah has been working in the NorthWest since 2003 and has enjoyed learning from some excellent surgeons in some well-run hospitals. This includes working at Wrightington Hospital, one of the centres of excellence for orthopaedic work, as the John Charnley Fellow learning how to tackle complex hip and knee problems.
Mr Shah is a father of two- a teenage son and a younger daughter (who still thinks he is great). In his free time, he loves watching and playing cricket and swimming and spending time with his children.
