About
Mr Jibawi obtained an MBBCh from Damascus School of Medicine, Syria, in 1996, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Damascus University in 2001. In 2007, he achieved the CCrISPs qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons in England.
In 2013, Mr Jibawi completed a Postgraduate Doctorate jointly awarded by the University of Oxford and Sussex University. The same year, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in General and Vascular Surgery. His dedication to enhancing his expertise continued when he earned the Accredited Vascular Scientist (AVS) certification from the Society for Vascular Scientists in the UK in 2014.
Mr Jibawi has gained significant recognition for his pioneering contributions to the realm of vascular surgery. He is credited with the creation and implementation of cutting-edge protocols, guidance charts, and classification frameworks specifically tailored to address varicose veins. These advancements take into careful consideration both the complex medical aspects and aesthetic aspects of the condition.
Mr Jibawi is also an expert in the application of low-level laser therapy (LLLT), also known as photobiomodulation (PBM). He has been actively exploring the potential of LLLT in the treatment of challenging wounds, as well as the management of primary and cancer-related lymphoedema. His ongoing research and innovative approaches reflect his commitment to pushing the boundaries of vascular surgery and improving patient outcomes.
Mr. Jibawi's commitment to advancing the field of vascular surgery extends beyond his clinical practice. He has actively contributed to research and academic endeavors, earning recognition through multiple prizes and awards. Notably, he received the prestigious Association of Surgeons in Training Prize (ASiT Award) in 2005, reflecting his dedication to surgical excellence. Other awards and grants Mr Jibawi has received include a significant £500,000 MRC Grant for a PhD studentship at the University of Sussex in 2009, the Best Poster Prize at the VSGBI Annual Meeting in 2010, and the North West London Teaching Programme Supporting Grant from W L Gore.
