Michelle Williams is a Chartered and Counselling Psychologist with 20 years of experience helping people to feel better - whether it's to alleviate the symptoms of depression and anxiety, or to plan to prevent relapse for Bipolar Disorder, or teaching groups about Mindfulness, or to coach people towards achieving their dreams.
Michelle works in evidence-based treatments and therapies, primarily third-wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT) such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Michelle works intensely with people (normally weekly) until they reach their goals. She knows that most people don't call straight away, so its important to dig in and help as quickly as possible.
Michelle's counselling sessions are an important time to reflect, but she also recognises that the week between sessions is where the change happens. For that reason, she expects to impart a skill, a strategy, or a different way of thinking or behaving, in every treatment session so that you can report back at the next session and build skills.
As well as individual counselling, Michelle also hosts a range of groups, and all clients are welcome to attend a weekly online guided mindfulness practice for free.
Michelle is presently offering online sessions, and will continue with a hybrid model of offering a mixture of online and in-person sessions in the future. Limited reduce-fee appointments are available, and Michelle is recognised by many health insurances.
