About Mr Mark Blomfield
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with a busy NHS practice at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals. He primarily manages foot and ankle conditions, including complex primary and revision surgeries, and provides comprehensive acute general trauma services for fracture fixation. I subspecialty interests encompass arthroplasty (joint replacement) and arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery of the foot and ankle, deformity correction, and arthrodesis of the forefoot, mid-foot, hind-foot, and ankle, including minimally invasive procedures. He is also skilled in managing sports injuries. His approach includes both non-operative or conservative management strategies, with a strong focus on good communication, high-quality personalised care, advice, and facilitating informed choice for his patients. I graduated with an MBChB from the University of Sheffield in 2007, having previously completed a Bachelor of Medical Science degree at the University of Birmingham in 2002. Mr. Blomfield completed his Basic Surgical Training in Yorkshire, passing the MRCS (Eng) in 2006, before entering Higher Surgical Training within the Yorkshire region and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2017. I am a fellowship trained UK surgeon with extensive experience in both primary and revision procedures. I offer all aspects of lower limb care from advice on how to conservatively manage pathology through to definitive operative intervention. I maintains an active interest in research and training, regularly lecturing on foot and ankle topics and presenting research findings locally, nationally, and internationally. I have published numerous articles in peer-reviewed international journals. I currently chair the mersey foot and ankle orthopaedic group for complex cases.
