Mr Majid Bassuni is a Consultant General, Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgeon worked at Sheffield Unviersity Teaching hospitals, Rotherham NHS Hospital and Bedford Hospital with extensive expertise in General Surgery , benign and cancerous colorectal disease with pioneer expertese in advanced minimally invasive surgery. He has a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, functional bowel disorders and pelvic floor disorders, including constipation, incontinence, chronic pelvic pain and pelvic organ prolapse.

He has specialist expertise in the investigation and treatment of complex and advanced endometriosis, working in close collaboration with gynaecologists to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary care. Mr Bassuni also has a strong interest in the minimally invasive management of complex anal fistulae, haemorrhoids and anal fissures, utilising advanced techniques such as VAAFT and IPSIT. In addition, he performs advanced laparoscopic surgery for abdominal wall hernias and gallstone disease.

Mr Bassuni began his NHS consultant career in 2000 as a Colorectal Surgeon at Rotherham Hospital. His extensive surgical training includes experience at internationally recognised institutions such as the University Hospital of Wales, Strasbourg in France, the University of Purojia in Italy, Alexandria University in Egypt and King Abdul Aziz University in Saudi Arabia.

With more than 150 publications and presentations in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, he has made significant academic contributions to the fields of general and colorectal surgery. He is recognised as a pioneer in developing innovative surgical techniques for functional bowel and pelvic floor disorders, many of which have been published under his name.

He recently chaired the surgical division of a major teaching hospital in Dubai. In the UK, he has led the implementation of accredited specialist services, including a unit dedicated to severe and advanced endometriosis and pelvic floor disorders in North Trent. Mr Bassuni has also chaired a large network of colorectal cancer centres in Northern England and leads a substantial team within the Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). His expertise has earned him appointments as an invited Visiting Professor of Colorectal Surgery at Mansoura University and the Military Medical Academy in Egypt.
