Following her initial training in psychiatry, she obtained both the Saudi and Arab Board certifications in Psychiatry. Dr Althagafi furthered her specialisation by completing two Canadian fellowships at Queen's University in Canada, one in Developmental Disability in Children, Adolescents, and Adults, and another in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
