About
Julie graduated in Medicine (MB, BChir) from the University of Cambridge in 1995, having first completed an Honours degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Sheffield. Early in her career, she worked in Forensic Medicine before commissioning into the Royal Air Force, where she served as a Medical Officer for 22 years. During her military service, she completed two operational tours and trained extensively in ophthalmic surgery across Peterborough, Birmingham, and Nottingham, later undertaking fellowship training in Oculoplastics in Birmingham.
Following her retirement from the RAF as a senior officer, Julie joined the NHS full-time, completing a Clinical Fellowship in Medical Retina and Oculoplastics at Worcester Hospitals Trust before being appointed to her current substantive Consultant post. Passionate about education, she is Medical Education Lead, Nurse Teaching Lead, and Clinical Supervisor for trainee ophthalmologists within her department.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
