Dr James Hampton
General Practice (GP)
About
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Hampton has made significant contributions to health service development and commissioning. He served for seven years on the board of the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), where his primary focus was on the commissioning and delivery of elective care services, helping to shape high-quality, patient-centred pathways.
Dr Hampton has particular expertise in vasectomy services. He established the vasectomy service in Bath and North East Somerset, which he led until 2023, performing approximately 200 procedures per year. He has also worked extensively with the Bristol vasectomy service, where he carried out 410 vasectomies in 2023 alone, reflecting both his experience and high procedural volume.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Hampton undertakes medico-legal work, drawing on decades of medical expertise to provide clear, balanced professional opinion.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
