Relevant Landmark Publications:
I’m passionate about evidence-based practice and strive to provide my patients with the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatments and surgical techniques that I deploy in my practice.
Here are two examples of major projects that I have conducted and have made huge impact on refining my surgical techniques and practice in hip & knee replacement surgery:
• Matar HE, Platt SR, Gollish JD, Cameron HU. Overview of Randomized Controlled Trials in Total Knee Arthroplasty (47,675 Patients): What Have We Learnt? J Arthroplasty. 2020 Jun;35(6): 1729-1736.
Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) provide the most reliable evidence on the effectiveness of interventions. In this project, I studied all RCTs ever been published on the subject of total knee replacements which involved 403 trials in 47,675 patients. The results of this landmark paper are published in the prestigious American Journal of Arthroplasty. Due to its academic and practical significance, it was supported by a dedicated editorial by some of the most influential and leading knee replacement surgeons in North America.
• Matar HE, Platt SR, Board TN, Porter ML. Overview of Randomized Controlled Trials in Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty (34,020 Patients): What Have We Learnt? J Am Acad Orthop Surg: Glob Res Rev. 2020 Aug;4(8):e20.00120.
Similarly, I studied all RCTs ever been published on total hip replacements which involved 312 trials in over 34,000 patients. The results of this landmark study were also published in the prestigious Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
