Dr Guy Hillman
Psychiatry
About
Dr Hillman is one of very few psychiatrists recognised as a specialist in both General Adult Psychiatry and Medical Psychotherapy. He also holds specialist qualifications in Forensic Psychiatry and regularly consults for legal professionals and has given evidence to the courts including The Central Criminal Court (The Old Bailey) and Court of Appeal.
Dr Hillman believes in a collaborative approach as he knows that a thorough assessment is essential before treatment starts. This allows him to gain insight into how your mind responds to stress and what type of individual treatment approach will have the highest chance of success in your situation.
Through his specialist expertise, he is able to tailor therapy according to the symptoms and lifestyle of each patient, combined with his specialist knowledge of multiple types of psychotherapy approaches, including: psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mentalisation-based therapy.
Dr Hillman treats a variety of conditions, including the following:
• Anxiety & Panic Disorders
• OCD
• Complex trauma
• Treatment-resistant conditions
• Depression
• Personality disorders
• Bipolar affective disorder
• Sleep disorders
Dr Hillman achieved his medical degree at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London School of Medicine & Dentistry in 2003 and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2007. He gained clinical experience working as a psychiatrist in the NHS since 2004. His previous roles have included working as a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry & Medical Psychotherapy at several units and hospitals throughout the UK, most recently at the East London NHS Foundation Trust.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
