About Dr Gavin Clague
Dr. Gavin Clague is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant. He qualified from the University College of London Medical School in 2002 and, after gaining experience as a junior doctor in the South West of England, completed his radiology training in Bristol between 2007 and 2012. To further enhance his expertise, Dr. Clague undertook a 12-month fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of Alberta, Canada, before returning to Wales to assume his current role. Dr. Clague is highly skilled in performing and reporting on all musculoskeletal examinations using various imaging modalities. He is also proficient in performing joint and soft tissue injections under image guidance, including nerve root injections and treatments for tendons, such as platelet-rich plasma delivery and prolotherapy. With a keen interest in sports, particularly rugby, Dr. Clague developed a specialisation in the imaging of sports injuries during his radiology training in both the UK and North America. He also has a strong interest in inflammatory arthritis and soft tissue sarcoma. Dr. Clague is a member of the British Society of Skeletal Radiologists and the Radiology Society of North America. He also serves as the Royal College of Radiologists' representative on the National Back Pain and Radiculopathy Pathway clinical group. Passionate about education, Dr. Clague is actively involved in training and supervising radiology trainees and other allied healthcare professionals, regularly teaching at the local and regional levels. In addition to his work, Dr. Clague enjoys performing pitch-side medical duties at regional rugby matches, furthering his expertise through a Post Graduate Certificate in Sports & Exercise Medicine from the University of Wales Institute.
