About
His specialist interests include gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), Barrett’s oesophagus, achalasia, upper GI cancer, and other complex oesophageal and stomach disorders. He is highly skilled in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, performing complex procedures to diagnose and treat conditions of the oesophagus and stomach using minimally invasive techniques.
Alongside his clinical work, Professor Ang is Honorary Professor of Gastrointestinal Science at the University of Manchester, where he teaches medical students and supervises postgraduate researchers. He plays an active role in international research, including studies with the Manchester Cancer Research Centre and the OCCAMS project investigating oesophageal cancer. His research has been published in major journals such as Nature Medicine.
Professor Ang is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London and Ireland) and of the European Board of Gastroenterology. He is also a member of several leading organisations including the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), British Association of Cancer Research (BACR), and the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE).
He is known for his compassionate and clear approach to care — combining advanced medical expertise with a strong focus on helping patients understand their condition and treatment options.
