About
His areas of interest include syncope (loss of consciousness), angina, heart valve disease and heart muscle abnormalities. He is experienced in cardioversion shock therapy for the treatment of arrhythmias and is wholeheartedly committed to providing the best possible care to his patients. Dr McCrea has published accredited works in the British Journal of Cardiology and New England Journal of Medicine. He has completed extensive research in the fields of infections of the heart, endocrine causes of high blood pressure and coronary artery spasm.
Originally from Ireland, he gained his Medical Degree in Dublin in 1980 before moving to the UK to pursue his chosen career, and became a Fellow at the Royal College of Physicians in 1999. He is heavily involved in providing cardiology training days to GPs to update on new practices and treatments. He is training programme director in Cardiology for Health Education England and is a Member of the Specialist Advisory Training Committee in Cardiology.
