He accepts referrals from GPs, allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, self-referrals (with a supporting letter from a GP), and other medical professionals and colleagues.
Dr Mehta has a special interest in paediatric neurology and neurodisability. He manages various neurological conditions in children, particularly:
• Headaches
• Faints and Funny turns
• Epilepsy
• Tic disorders and Tourette’s syndrome
• Movement disorders
• Developmental delay
• Cerebral palsy
• Functional neurological disorders
• Neuromuscular disorders
• Sleep difficulties
In addition, Dr Mehta has extensive experience in managing a wide range of general paediatric conditions, including abdominal pain or cramps, gastro‑oesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux), cow’s milk protein allergy, constipation, urinary tract infections, breathing difficulties, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue or tiredness, PoTS, dizziness, chest pain, palpitations, leg pain, neck lumps, back pain, and bedwetting, among others.
Dr Mehta graduated from Indore, India, and completed his postgraduate training in paediatrics at the prestigious University of Bombay (Mumbai), where he obtained his MD degree. He then moved to the UK and trained at several centres, including Hull Royal Infirmary, St Mary’s Hospital Manchester, Leeds General Infirmary, and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, before taking up his current role as Consultant Paediatrician at Hull Royal Infirmary.
He runs regular specialist clinics in childhood epilepsy, general neurology, headache, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders along with general paediatrics in his NHS practice.
He has a keen interest in teaching and regularly contributes to:
• The Yorkshire Deanery MRCPCH Clinical Course
• British Paediatric Neurology Association’s headache (CHaT) and epilepsy (PET) courses
• Resucitation council run Eurpean Paediatric Adavance Life Support Course(EPALS)
• Yorkshire Deanery SPRInT (Specialised Paediatric Regional Innovative Training) for ST6-ST6 trainees.
He is current joint secratary of the BPNA(British Paediatric Neurology Association) CHaN( Childhood Headache Network) and Sterring commitee member of BPNA CHaT course ( Childhood Headache) .Additionally, he is an Honorary Lecturer in Paediatrics at Hull York Medical School (HYMS), Revalidation Lead at Hull University Teaching Hospitals and had previously served as Clinical Lead for Paediatrics and RCPCH College Tutor at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. He is also an MRCPCH Examiner Elect and EPALS resuscitation course Instructor.
He participated in developing delphi consensus recommendations for assesment and management of Idiopathic intracranial Hypertension in children and young people.
